The Beauty

Offspring of the famous Spartacus

On the evening of Saturday the 24th of May we had a feeling that Sparty would give birth to her foal. Finally she was able to get rid of her big and round sto- mach. With such a massive volume in the burning heat the end of the pregnancy was seen to be a big burden.

Within a short period of time, two minutes after midnight to be exact, Bella Donna was born. The second mare foal from our famous stallion Teoc’s Painted Levi is the largest born foal on Ranch Wolf. She drank right away. Only after three hours Bella Donna attempted to eat hay. It was an unbelievable experience. We started the calculation for the amount of hay we would require right away!

On a beautiful Sunday morning GW Bella Donna showed us her love of galloping, which she has kept with her until the present day. Our bundle of energy presents to us pride with her long strides and after her jumping around is done she goes to her mother for cuddles as an award!

Itchy?

No problem for Bella Donna. In order for horses to survive, they must be fully motor ally functional few hours after their birth.

Training for the Hindquarters

More natural is impossible

In the summer of 2006 the first dump trucks containing earth were delivered to us. At this present day around 100 000 tonnes of earth has been delivered and spread. It took a lot of hard work and diligence. A 30 m wide and 7 m high wall has been created.

What was originally planned to be a noise and safety barrier has developed into a large pasture that offers effective and natural training possibilities for our horses.

Our Curlys have no idea that a new pasture is awaiting them! Time will tell if the horses will be more excited about the new view from the top to the bottom, about the training possibilities from the bottom to the top.

Now just a site

The daily noises of the construction equipment offer noise training for horses and humans. They are part of our daily sounds that will soon no longer be heard. The grass has been seeded, the watering system built in and with the right mixture of rain and sun we will be able to offer our Curlys their new playground in fall 2008.

The Birthday Gift

Every woman wants a boyfriend like this

Midnight, 30th birthday.
I am sitting in a movie theatre where my boyfriend has taken me as a surprise. The surprise is successful. Surprising is the whole situation because I am not sure what I am suppose to be doing in a movie theatre on my 30th birthday.

I had thought that we would just sit on the couch with a glass of Prosecco and to- ast the occasion. None the less, now we are in the movie theatre, the sneak pre- views are showing, and we are drinking beer instead of Prosecco, and he hasn’t even said happy birthday. The fact that we are the only ones in the movie thea- tre didn’t seem to surprise me; I mean who goes to the movies on a Thursday at midnight.

The lights go off and something seems to appear on the screen. I hear a very re- cognizable song and see fur. Horse fur, Curly horse fur. My first thought is where he got these Curlys from. More Curlys trot across the screen. A chestnut horse a black horse, and more. They all still have their winter fur, and it is so curly, which I; at this point; only knew from pictures.

A few months ago I started to interest myself in hypoallergenic horses and sear- ched the internet for more information. I didn’t have much luck finding informa- tion, at least not in our region. And now I see my boyfriend on the big screen on the back of the magnificent curly mare ‘Diamond’ and I hear him say that I can spend a day with this horse in Bickenbach an der Bergstrasse. I have the chance to get to know her, learn a bit of ground work and ride.

Before it was clear to me how special this surprise was, water started to stream out of my eyes. At last we got Prosecco and it became clear to me what one would do on their 30th birthday in a movie theatre.

The day at Ranch Wolf was unparalleled. The horse welfare, and the lovely way they are treated immediately created an atmosphere of well being. The animals themselves are very open and interested in humans. I left with many wonderful and interesting impressions.
I think that horses are now closer to my heart than they were before.

Natalie

Only love counts

We are crossing our fingers for you that all of your dreams and wishes come true. You are a dream pair. This type of surprise should come more often. Dear Natalie, as soon as the maternity break is over for our Diamond you are more than welcome to ride her. Please let us know when its time for your small Princess Dia- mond.

The first foal of 2008 is here!

A successful surprise

On the 9th of May a wonderful, healthy, nosey, Curly mare foal was born into life on Ranch Wolf. Her father Locken’s Mangas is a gaited horse as well as her mo- ther WWW Diamond Princess, who has won various prises in the USA.

Our dear friend and fellow Curly horse breeder Andrea Hempel had Diamond im- pregnated by Mangas last year. Unfortunately it was not granted to her to see this beautiful creation.
Andrea was and still remains in our hearts as an unbelievable Curly lover. In me- mory of the wonderful, emotional and unforgettable time that we spent together we gave this new foal the name Andrea Memory.

This gaited horse; through genetic potential; is more motion able than humans. Especially tolt, which offers the rider a high degree of riding comfort. It is a gift from this horse to us. These genes were inherited by GW Andrea Memory from her parents and we enjoy watching day by day how she becomes more assured on her long legs. Too cute!

Into life

We were actually awaiting the foal of a different mare to be born, but it was worth the surprise when Diamond gave birth to her foal. GW Andrea Memory stood up after a few hours for her first step and jump into her new life. Hop – trust yourself – mom is watching.

Riding seminar with Bent Banderup

Professional Organization by Corinna Schubert

On the 3rd and 4th of May 2008 Corinna Schubert held a riding seminar with Bent Banderup in the vicinity of Weinheim. Bent Banderup is one of the most famous and best baroque trainers of his time. His students come from various cavalry branches all the same whether tournament or leisure riders. The focus point of his seminars is to fine tune the rider and the horse in their level of expertise. Piece by piece the academic conductor teaches and develops the back muscles
to carry weight of the rider.

The weekend seminar had about 4 hours of theory class and every rider and horse had a two hour one on one lesson. This time eight riders showed their homework and the other part became homework from Bent. His quotation “A horse can do it naturally and if the horse under the rider does something wrong then we help the horse, if the horse does not accept the correction then we are not a good help”. New ideas of how helping can be done better became praise and new assignments.

For many people watching was very interesting to see the various riding stan- dards because after knowing about this concept it is easier to recognize impro- vements. We are very excited for the next lesson.

Pirate Party

Thank you for the very original in- vitation to your Pirate party. We had a lot of fun dressing up and, as you can see, riding! Getting on and off the horse with a voluminous skirt was very suspenseful!
