Hoof orthopedic care Curly horses

"Does my horse feel well in his hooves?"

This is a question horse owners ask themselves too infrequently. The effects of how hoof problems can affect your horse become clear when your horse smith cannot get the horses hoof problems in order anymore. Many times at this point the horse owner is bound to spend a lot of money to correct the problems of in- sufficient hoof treatments. The Jochen Biernats Method demands a new way of thinking when it comes to hoof consultation. With much success in hoof therapy she would like to start moving away from this field of work and focus on hoof sicknesses through Prophylaxes. This guide should engage horse owners, riders or breeders to recognize hoof problems before it lames the horse. On hand are photo examples from the Clinic. You will learn to be able to recognize bothersome situations, learn and understand why the hoof deforms, learn how to judge hoof development to see if the treatment is working or not. Jochen Biernat is the foun- der of Hoof orthopedics, leader of the Deutschen Ausbildungsinstituts für Hufor- thopäden (DifHO) and leader of a hoof rehabilitation centre in Bernkastel-Kues.
In the summer of 2000 he founded together with some of his students the Deu-
tsche Huforthopädische Gesellschaft e.V. (DHG) and is since then president.

Sylvia Eimer, 31 years old, riding since 10 year of age, completed Trainer C one year ago. I completed my schooling as a banker, then moved to animal healing practitioner and through that I came to Hoof orthopedics. During my training; which I started only so I could work on my own horses; I realized that I had found my dream job. My client base quickly grew since the need for a specialist to fix horses hoofs; who did not have horseshoes; and be able to correct the hoof in a sensitive way was in demand. One year after my exam I went out on my own. This is now three years ago. I am now as always convinced of the Biernat method since during education just as much value was laid on the recognition of the hoof as well as the treatment. Every horse needs to have regularity in the treatment of its hoofs. A hoof orthopedist will determine this on a horse to horse basis and decide in which time frame the correction needs to be done. Deciding of intervals vary and are based on the quality and growth of the horns, as well as other observations. This factors vary from horse to horse which leads to the un- derstanding of why a time frame cannot be given until the individual horse has been assessed.

The unique feature of the Curlys is their good quality and hard horn which offer
a wonderful premises. It is important to note that even these hooves need re- gular work done to them since even the best horn is not protected from the for- mation of horn capsule on the grounds of irregular bothers of the hoof. This must always be corrected to avoid the development of false position. With the hoof orthopedist these problems can be corrected. The correction of hooves must be done over a longer period of time to avoid joint problems the horse may acquire if changed too quickly.

My work is my hobby

On Ranch Wolf Sylvia Eimer will decide over a four week period which procedures to do to correct and strengthen the hoof. All our Curly horses thank you for your provident care, love and professional advise.

Learning with horses and making friends

Big or small Curly horses bring out a certain fascination in people without the worry of triggering horse allergies. Curlys respond to the smallest amount of consideration that you give them by rewarding you with their attention. Ranch Wolf can provide you a place to fulfill your childhood dreams of learning how to communicate and interact with horses.

Our horses enjoy a varied way of being occupied and entertained! We ride them on our sandy riding area, in our famous Picadero or Round Pen, relaxed and laid back over the pastures or a trot through the open county.

Through our three day or our in depth one week course we would like to offer you the opportunity to get to know our horses and our ranch.

The courses offer the following:

1. Theory – working knowledge of horses
2. Body language of the horse and the rider
3. Communication and ground work that will enhance intuition and reaction
4. Introduction to lunging
5. Stable work that belong to day to day ranch activities
6. Riding course with and without a saddle to build a better feel for riding
7. Rider and perception games
8. Ride out depending on riders level of experience
9. Final test: theory and practical. An original Parcour that is based on the trust and harmony between the horse and the rider.

One week camps for beginners, course changers and advanced riders will be available in the summer of 2008. The exact dates and other relevant information will be available at a later time.

Please feel free to send us your requests. We would be more than happy to prepare a specific and individual offer for you.

Of course non allergic riders welcome to attend our courses! You find registra- tions under Training and Camps.
