We are very proud of our youngest Curly offspring GW Amor and GW Goliath. The two bright eyed boys are making their way in this world with almost no human help. As the due date for Amor crept closer and closer his mother Bit-O-Wy-Maehem (Mae) was under close surveillance through personal contact by checking the utter, croup, stomach and scabbard or over the video camera which are permanently installed in the birthing boxes. “Two days long we did not dare to let Mae out of our site for even a minute. If we were not with her we were constantly viewing the monitor” said Gina our girl in charge of the horses and Eva our good spirited helper. These two girls had the responsibility of watching Mae while the family was gone for personal reasons. “On the 11th of July Mae had resin drops on her utter and her stomach had dramatically dropped. We were ready to expect the foal during the night. Every check in throughout the night was for nothing. Even the next day and night continued without a result” explained Gina further. On the 13th of July Gina and Eva were very puzzled because there was no resin to be seen and the mare was very calm. The constant check ins must have been too much for Mae because she took an unwatched moment to her advantage to quietly give birth to her baby. “When we went to look up on Mae a little stallion was lying there, all wet as his mother lovably licked him off” reported Gina. “A beautiful Fox foal that we welcomed right away as well as commend Mae for her hard work”. The surveillance of soon to be mothers must have been talked about on the Farm amongst the horses! Our Funny Face is always good for a surprise which she proved again when she decided to have her baby early. In the same night and in the middle of the pasture Funny gave birth to her foal whose due date was set for many weeks later. Early the next morning our neighbor informed us that there was a little foal on our pasture. As we went to go investigate it slowly walked towards us with Mama Funny Face. “At first I was shocked but after I saw the after birth on the pasture and I watched the foal drink I was calmed and simply happy” described Gina of the events. It is delightful to watch both foals grow as they develop more trust and courage. We are proud of our two outdoors men and of course also of our outdoors women; their mothers. This experience once again has showed us that it was the right decision to become a Curly breeder. A robust breed of horses that can live it up in the outdoors without help from humans!

She is not a Curly horse, but she has Character

Friendly, trustworthy and persistent

Our good spirited Eva will soon be leaving us. Her loyalty and willingness to integrate herself into the family made it easy for us to quickly lock her into our hearts. Our two children Mara and Paul saw Eva as a big sister with all good and bad qualities. There was friction and amusement that only belonged to them, just as siblings. What impressed us was her development towards the horses which perfectly fit into our concept, which states, to raise horse with love and understanding. Where humans and animals live together there will always be unplanned situations that need to be mastered. Also there Eva could always be counted on. She will break away from here and go to her dreamland Canada. For this period of her life we wish her all the best. Our door will always be open for Eva.

The first time I talked on the phone with Petra Wolf she made an immediate personable impression. She told me about the farm, the kids, the horses as well as the job responsibilities that I could expect. It was exactly how I had imagined it when I first submitted my application to a Czech riding magazine. After the completion of my English course I wanted to expand on my knowledge of the language in an English speaking country while incorporating horses into my new dream. Since the age of 10 horses have had a place in my life, whether riding them or helping with stable work. The instant connection to Petra Wolf made my decision clear: I would go to Germany. The language was foreign to me and to be completely honest I still have a hard time getting the language off my lips. With mixed feelings I arrived. After a few days I was filled with complete joy. A nice family with cute kids, a fabulous Ranch with wonderful Curlys! A fantastic race of horses - quite, nice and friendly. A highlight was riding the breeding stallion of family Wolf. These moments with Levi have been engraved into my memories. His dominance and proud ways as well as his unmistakable appearance represent Ranch Wolf worldwide. His presence pulls all eyes towards him. Simply put Levi is number 1! A wonderful and touching moment was experiencing the horses giving birth and helping them integrate; together with their mothers; into the herd. I took many pictures of these precious events that will forever be with me. In the meantime there are 23 hypoallergetic Curly horses on Ranch Wolf. When I arrived there were 7! An unbelievable expansion. The feared language barrier turned out not to be a problem. Whether Czech, English, or German these languages helped through the adaptation phase. I couldn’t imagine how much joy it would bring me to care for children. The experience was defiantly a benchmark for my own family someday. There are many things that I did not do before like playing soccer with Paul which was always so much fun. It was also so much fun to get dressed in the same outfits as Mara and go shopping with her while listening to loud music. Beyond those experiences I have also met many fantastic people and make wonderful friends during my time at the Bergstrasse. It was very difficult to say goodbye to all these people. At the same time by meeting these people doors opened for me that are now leading me on my way to Canada. Fate found me here with Tom, Petra, Mara and Paul.
